Anna Counsell
A bit of background on Anna.
It was whilst volunteering at Christian Camps in Dorset that Anna decided to move from her work within the Health and Social Care sector to working with Children and Youth. She took a gap year with XLP, a Christian charity who aim to create positive futures for young people growing up on inner-city London estates. It was during this year where Anna worked closely with children and youths on estates in Camden and Islington that she felt a real passion for working with people of this age in a Christian context.
Anna completed a BA Hons in Applied Theology with a focus on family and community development. Her course placements gained her experience in working within different churches in different locations including Bournemouth, Poole and Manchester. Although challenging at times, she loved working with different people from diverse backgrounds.
After graduating from Moorlands, Anna worked as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school in Christchurch where she particularly enjoyed working with children 1-to-1, and then worked as a Youth Worker for the Salvation Army in Winton heading up their youth programme both within a church setting as well as in a secular environment.
We were delighted when Anna decided to join us at St Luke's in March 2020 as our Childrens' and Families Minister.
Our Childrens and Youth Ministry at St Luke’s is supported by a team of volunteers who have all undergone safeguarding training and hold a current DBS check . We organise all of our activities to be engaging, fun and inclusive.
