Our Mission
We are a Christian family of believers, journeying in faith and understanding through Bible-centred teaching. Our heart’s desire is to be equipped to share God’s love with our community and beyond. We welcome and nurture those who are searching for answers to life’s big questions and seek to be supportive of those with practical needs.
Our Vision
- We love to worship together. When we meet together regularly to praise and worship our God, we are strengthened and encouraged in our faith. Psalm 100:1-2; Psalm 84:10; Hebrews 10:25; Psalm 95:1-7
- It is our vision that all members of St Luke’s should be part of a ‘Connect’ group. Connect groups not only share Bible teaching, but are also safe places for small groups to share, build friendships and pray for each other. Ephs 4:12; John 15:12-13; Prov 27:9; Ps 133:1
- It is our privilege to mentor younger people from toddlers to teenagers. We offer exciting Bible based activities such as Messy Church, Children’s groups, Parents and Toddlers, and Youth Club. We are also actively involved with Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and our local schools: Baden Powell and St Edwards. It is our vision, that in these challenging times of uncertainty, our young people will grow in their understanding of the sure and certain hope we have in Jesus, becoming disciples for the next generation. Proverbs 22:6; Deuteronomy 6:6-7; Matthew 19:14; Matthew 28:19-20
- Because of all Jesus did for us at the Cross, it is our joy to reach out to others and to love and serve as He did. We have a heart for mission. Our church supports and prays for global missions, including the Pain family in Japan (OMF); the Cables in Israel (CMS); the Bible Society and our partnership with Wau in South Sudan. We are also actively involved with local mission – evangelical and humanitarian: PACE, Evangelical Alliance, Routes to Roots. Domestic Abuse Refuge and our local Food Bank. Matthew 24:14; Romans 1:16; Romans 10:13-14; 1 Chronicles 16:24; Mark 16:15
- We seek to base all we do and all we hope to achieve, through prayer. Collectively, in small groups or with prayer partners, our prayer ministry team loves to support and pray with others. For those who individually need times of quiet prayer and stillness, our church building is open to all, every day. Prayer meetings also, are held during the week. 1 Thes 5:16-18; Ephs 6:18; James 5:16; 1 Chron 16:11.
- We are pastoral, supporting those in need and caring for one another. We offer hospitality and friendship through meals, coffee mornings and events. Our Pastoral Team is on hand to support those who are suffering through illness or other issues. Communion is taken monthly to those physically unable to attend church. John 13:34-35; 1 Peter 4:10; James 2:15-17
- Every person is a work in progress. We strive to be those who value, nurture and encourage one another, knowing that each of us, in different ways has been equipped and gifted by our Lord to share the good news of the Gospel, to serve and to glorify Him. Philippians 1:6; Romans 12:1-2; 2 Timothy 1:6; Ephesians 2:10; 1 Corinthians 12:14 –28; 1 Corinthians 14:12
